Find out how neurographic/doodle art can motivate and benefit you to embrace your own challenges with creativity and resilience.

Neurographic art involves drawing freeform lines (also called "neuro lines") and shapes, and then transforming those lines by rounding off corners and intersections. The process is intended to be a meditative and creative experience, potentially leading to relaxation, stress reduction, and a deeper connection with oneself.

Jeff will share his extraordinary story of overcoming extreme adversity while turning his experiences into personal masterpieces and finding solace in the creative process itself. You’ll have an unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impact.

Classes will be held on Mondays for 12 weeks starting in late June, and you are welcome to attend all or some. Please Register for each class individually.

The Woodlands Art League has a weekly portraiture group that meets on Monday mornings 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  This group is not a class but is open to anyone who would like to participate.  No registration is required, but welcomed so that we can have your contact information.

We have a live model in the studio who will be in the same pose for the entire morning.  Models are clothed, and some may be in costume.  The individual sessions are 20 minutes with a ten minute break and then return to the same pose.  Artists are welcome to interact with each other during the breaks.

Artists may bring whatever materials they prefer.  No VOCs or other harmful solvents, please.  Some easels or tables are available if needed.

We do ask for a $15 fee to cover the costs of the model and a bit extra for other expenses.

    Carolina Dalmas

    Painting Contemporary Flowers with Acrylics

    Demonstration

    Saturday, September 6th from 1pm to 2pm

    Contemporary Realism
    Carolina Dalmas

I was born in 1969 in a small town in Argentina and grew up surrounded by nature and freedom, traits that have shaped my art. A curious mind, from a young age I always showed eagerness to learn and an affinity to the visual arts. My art portrays the texture and colors of the vivid world around us. You can easily distinguish my paintings due to my use of vibrant and dynamic colors, and contemporary realism style.

I am a member and active participant in different art societies and leagues, either running or participating in shows and exhibits.

My art has been juried and awarded into local, International and National shows like the International Pastel Society IAPS 34th Juried Exhibition, “Art of the Pastel” National Juried Show, and Richerson N75 International (Small Works and Florals).

Giving back to the community brings joy and fulfillment to all of us. I like to contribute to my community by helping worthy causes through my art. I am always eager to collaborate and donate my time and artwork for good causes like Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith, The Woodlands Art League, Kilpatrick Elementary School, Project Pink and Hope under the Stars, Star of Hope, St Jude’s Hospital and Casa Argentina of Houston.

    Mini Workshop with Carolina Dalmas

    Painting Contemporary Flowers with Acrylics

    Saturday, September 6th from 2:15pm to 5:00pm

“Using the same tool will lead us to the same results.”

In this workshop, we’ll break that cycle by exploring new ways to apply paint and express yourself through brushwork. You’ll learn how to control and vary brush types, paint consistency, and pressure to create dynamic textures and marks. Taught using both acrylics and oils, this session is ideal for artists who want to push their boundaries, refine their technique, and infuse their work with energy and emotion.

In this class you will learn how to paint with soft pastels without having to purchase expensive materials and supplies.  We will cover all related topics, such as drawing, composition, color wheel basics, mixing colors and much more as we work. This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate level students. We will start with simple sketches to learn how to apply pastels and progress to more complex paintings.

Each student will be provided with a professional pastel paper and a limited palette of hard and soft pastels during class. You are welcome to bring your own supplies that you are comfortable working with. We will work on some projects together, using the instructor’s references, and on individual projects of your choice based on your own interest in a subject matter. I will help you every step on the way. The objective for this class is that each student enjoys creativity and self-expression and develops his or her own style.

Check our online calendar for up-to-date information on interest groups, current classes, and available workshops. (Additional costs vary for classes/workshops.)

Studio classes provide weekly ongoing instruction and can help you get started or continue learning.

Youth art classes are available throughout the year providing instruction for a variety mediums.

Studio Workshops provide a more vigorous instruction in a 1-3 day format for a specific type of art.

Interest Groups

If you’re looking to hang out with other artists and make new friends while making new art, then our Interest Groups are just what you’re looking for! Interest Groups are frequent meet ups coordinated by TWAL Members at low cost that focus on making art and refining skills. These no-instructor groups give artists access to still life, live models, outdoor settings, and the chance to make new friends while making art!

Artists meet at the studio every other Wednesday to journal together.
