After a career in mechanical engineering, Tom LaRock pursued his passion for painting and studied classical drawing and painting techniques, including training under his son, master artist Joshua LaRock.   He focuses on creating realistic oil paintings in the style of 18th and 19th-century masters. He aims to create art that tells a story and inspires viewers to appreciate beauty, truth, and goodness in the world.

Tom founded the LaRock Art School in The Woodlands, Texas in 2021, where he offers instruction in classical drawing and painting techniques.  He produces landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and floral paintings, and accepts commissioned works.
