Mini Workshop-Painting with Pastels with Tetyana Aleksenko President, Pastel Society of Southeast Texas

TWAL Instructor - Pastel Painting Classes

    Member fee: $75
    Non-Member fee: $100
    10 students maximum

In this workshop you will learn how to paint a seascape with soft pastels.

A Sea Wave by Tetyana Aleksenko (Pastels)

During our mini workshop, each student will work on painting a Sea Wave with soft pastels. You are welcome to use the demo reference or bring your own.  The objective for this workshop is to obtain an understanding of how to paint with pastels and to paint a beautiful seascape. Tetyana will help you every step of the way.

Paper: Tetyana will use a light blue Pastelmat paper for the demo. UART 400-500 (Natural color) or Grey Mi-Teintes Touch are also good options. There is also Mi-Teintes grey paper available in Hobby Lobby (16x20 size) that will work for the project. Please bring any paper you would prefer to work on.

References: Please bring your own seascape reference photo for this Mini Workshop. Tetyana will also bring a few reference photos in case you need to choose one.

Pastels: You can use any pastel brands - Tetyana usually uses Rembrandt and Unison.

Tetyana will use several blues (from light to dark), light and medium violets, very light yellows and blues for highlights. Please be sure to bring some purples and greens.

Also bring your pastel pencils, tape, and a kneaded eraser!

If you have any questions, please contact Tetyana directly by email at taniadima@hotmail.com

Ruby Tangles (Oil) by Danna Tartaglia

Join Danna Tartaglia for a 3-hour, monthly workshop intended for older teens and adults.

Oil paints have long been Danna’s method of getting color onto canvas. A lifetime of traditional oils was the thing until discovering the magical water-soluble oils or W-S Oils. The ease of use and minimal toxicity won her over and she has not gone back.
