Art Exploration for the Young Artist

Instructor: Susan Manbeian

Level: Beginner-Advanced

Ages: 6-14

Description:

This exploratory class is designed for students who love art. Instructruction will be differentiated by student interest, ability, and age.

This class is a part of a year round art class which teaches the Elements (line, shape, form, color, space, texture and value) and Principals of Art (rhythm, balance, variety and etc). The subject matter used to highlight the Elements and Principals is cross curricular in nature and may include math, science literature, history, or music. All lessons exceed state standards for teaching Art.

Creative thought and expression is a constant theme, and students will be taught techniques in pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, watercolors, pen and ink, pastels, oil pastels, acrylic paint, clay and found objects throughout the year.

The first month will highlight color and line. Color and science, color and culture and color for the artist (color theory). The study of line will include line and contour drawings and line creating pattern and texture.

There is an additional $15 supply fee due to the instructor at the beginning of each 6 week period.
