Acrylic and Mixed Media Painting

If you are an absolute beginner,  are coming back after years long hiatus, or are an intermediate wanting to boost your skills, we have a welcoming group for you to join!

Basic information covered and experimentation is a strong point for this class! Start with strengthening skills then add various texture, collage, collagraph and other mixed media techniques.

This is a repeating class with monthly registration...start when you like and credit your fees to the next session.

Four  classes are $125 for WAL members, $140 for non-members.. One make up date is included for each session which must be taken 30 days after last scheduled class.

Supplies are not included; see the very basic acrylic supply list below.

Supplies: This is not a complete list. Your choice of projects and skill level will determine what you will add as we go along.

Paints: All students should bring to class the basics...cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow medium, ultramarine blue, and titanium white. Other colors can be added, or, if you have experience with a preferred palette, by all means, bring those as well! White gesso, and acrylic gel medium are also useful.

Brushes: Again intermediate students probably have some, new painters please get long handled, taklon or nylon. Flats and filberts...an assortment from size 4 to 12...about 6 brushes in all. Don't spend a lot of money, but make sure they do not shed and have a little "snap" to them so they will move your paint.

Painting surfaces: You can use wood or stretched canvas, or even paper meant for acrylics...all up to you! For first timers 11x14 is neither too large or too small, and 12x12 is a close runner up.

Palette paper pad, paper towels, and water containers.
