Body Talk: Drawing the Human Form 1

Speak the Language of Lines and Shapes

                                   Express the Human Spirit!

Figure Drawing for Adults and Older Teens with Maurice Terry Jr.

Class Overview:

Join us to explore the art of figure drawing, where you'll learn to communicate the human spirit through lines and shapes. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate artist, this course will deepen your understanding of anatomy, proportions, and expressive techniques, all while fostering your unique style to create dynamic manga, or comic book characters.

Course Goals:

Grasp human anatomy and proportions through simplified geometric forms inspired by manga and comic book styles.

Enhance observational skills using references such as photographs and mannequins.

Master fundamental techniques including line work, form, perspective, and texture.

Develop a personal artistic voice and expressive drawing approach.

Cultivate a philosophical perspective on perception and representation.

Let’s explore the art of the human form together and bring your        "manga, comic book character” visions to life!

Session Structure:

We'll begin with basic shapes and perspectives, learning how to construct the human figure. As the course progresses, you'll tackle more dynamic and complex poses, emphasizing action and emotion.
