Class Overview:
Join us to explore the art of figure drawing, where you'll learn to communicate the human spirit through lines and shapes. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate artist, this course will deepen your understanding of anatomy, proportions, and expressive techniques, all while fostering your unique style to create dynamic manga, or comic book characters.
Course Goals:
Grasp human anatomy and proportions through simplified geometric forms inspired by manga and comic book styles.
Enhance observational skills using references such as photographs and mannequins.
Master fundamental techniques including line work, form, perspective, and texture.
Develop a personal artistic voice and expressive drawing approach.
Cultivate a philosophical perspective on perception and representation.
Let’s explore the art of the human form together and bring your "manga, comic book character” visions to life!
Session Structure:
We'll begin with basic shapes and perspectives, learning how to construct the human figure. As the course progresses, you'll tackle more dynamic and complex poses, emphasizing action and emotion.
Tools & Materials List: please have the following supplies ready:
● Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
● Pens (fineliners, brush pens)
● Markers
● Drawing pads or sketchbooks
Optional: portable drawing table, easels, reference photos & mannequins
Feel free to bring your preferred tools. We will work on collaborative projects using provided references and individual projects aligned with your interests. I will guide you step-by-step, helping you unlock your creative potential and develop your own style.

TWAL Class Changes, Cancellations & Refunds Policy

Individual instructors may have make-up policies for missed classes. Please check with your instructor.

If you must cancel your registration for a class, refund requests must be made via email to the Treasurer at twaltreas@thewoodlandsartleague.org 3 days before the first class starts.

Refund requests received less than 3 days before the first class are non-refundable.

No refunds are issued for “no shows” for classes.

A $10 processing fee will be deducted for a refund on any class fee.

Refund checks are mailed approximately 10-14 days after the class refund request is received by the Treasurer at twaltreas@thewoodlandsartleague.org
