Woodlands Area Art Trading Cards Group
Create, Trade, and Collect!
We want to let you know
that ATC has gone postal!
Art Trading Cards are tiny gems - 2-1/2" X3-1/2" - that you make and trade with others. Any medium can be used, paints, collage, fabrics and more as long as they can fit into a standard trading card pocket. Create some to trade on the spot, or bring some with you in any state of completion.
As we are a small group, each person creates 2 cards for each member per month. We mail them out to each other at the beginning of the month. Everyone has the option of doing what they want, but we often agree on a topic for at least one of the cards.
What you do is up to you! Creativity is worth sharing and this is a perfect way to not only share your art, but get others' art in return. What a fun way to introduce yourself to new artist-friends!
This group is sponsored for the community by the Woodlands Art League. There is no charge and membership is not required. Adults and older teens with parent are welcome. Bring a friend or two!

Special Interest Groups are forming!
If you have an interest in joining (or starting) a Special Interest Group (SIG), many are starting now that we have a place to call our own.
What is an SIG? First of all, it is not a class. It is a group of people with a similar interest in a particular subject. For example, our Monday Portrait Group meets with one purpose, that is to paint a portrait of a live model. The individual members work independently but in a group setting that is open to anyone to join. There are no restrictions on media or experience levels. You just have to bring your own materials and pay a small model fee.
What other groups are there? Any aspect of Art and Creativity can become an SIG. Life Drawing, Still Life, Plein Air, Printing, and Calligraphy are just some examples of possible SIGs that can be fun to participate in. All that really matters is that a group of people share an interest that they would like to focus on or explore further.
What experience level do you need? Most groups are open to any level of experience as long as you have the interest. Again, it isn't a class, there is no instructor. But, you can learn by watching and asking questions from all the others that are in the group with you. The main point of an SIG is to enjoy creating something while experiencing the creativity of those around you.
So, if we can gather a group of like-minded folks, we can have Special Interest Groups to join. But, right now we need some individuals to step up and organize things. If you would like to help organize such a group, let any board member know so that we can help you get one started! All we need is YOU.
