COLORED PENCIL AS A FINE ART MEDIUM With Jesse Lane

Explore the exciting possibilities of creating beautiful artwork in colored pencil with award-winning artist Jesse Lane.

This workshop is an introduction to colored pencil as a fine-art medium, capable of so much more than scribbles of color! All skill levels are welcome. “Many people think colored pencils are for children,” Jesse says. “But colored pencils can create exquisite artwork in stunning detail. I’m excited to share the wonders of this versatile medium. There’s a layering process to colored pencils that elevates them to a form of fine art. It’s a very relaxing medium and fun to get lost in the surface textures of each piece. It lends itself well to detail.”

Jesse is a gifted instructor. Students love his warm, friendly manner and clear, step-bystep instruction. Jesse will demo throughout the day and also work with each student one-on-one. Students will learn how to layer and blend in colored pencil, techniques fortexture, the secrets to skin tone and how to create color within color.

Jesse’s many awards include the world’s highest honor for colored pencil, the CIPPY Award from the Colored Pencil Society of America, and the “Pioneer of Realism” Award from the International Guild of Realism. His artwork has been featured in numerous publications, including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, International Artist, Washington Post and Artist’s Magazine.

Jesse works out of his home studio in The Woodlands, Texas, and is represented by RJD Gallery in Romeo, Michigan. His website is jesselaneart.com.
