Julie Graham

“I am always inspired by watching my students share their artwork with one another. The interaction between the young artists instills creative boldness and inspires them to use their imagination. It is this same passion that moved me to create an art program within our church… The joy of using our talents and gifts that God has given us, is only truly realized when shared with others.”

Married for 33 years to her high school sweetheart, Julie and her husband Robert reside in The Woodlands and have two grown children. Julie teaches art at Wilkerson Intermediate School, where she has been employed for 14 years. In 2009, Julie founded the non-profit group, Art with Vision for The Woodlands United Methodist Church where she has been a member since 1999. Past art displays and information can be viewed online at The Woodlands United Methodist Church's webpage here. Julie is also a member of The Woodlands Art League and Christians in Visual Art (CIVA).

Julie’s passion for art continues today. Her life-long pursuit for discovering her own talent and developing her skills in order to share them with others and bring them joy, is her desire and ultimate goal.

Having grown up in California, Julie’s early years were influenced by the artistic currents of the Pacific Ocean. The daughter of an artist, she drew inspiration from watching her father paint. Julie’s early works reflect a child-like, primitive energy that knows no boundaries, whereas her current work reflects her inner strength and vitality which is expressed through her brush technique and choice of bold colors. Her subjects range from plants, trees, flowers, landscapes, seascapes, and sky. The originality of her style reveals her devotion and enthusiasm for the impressionistic beauty that surrounds her. Julie draws inspiration from those select moments in time, where light and shadow come out to play.
