Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of drawing while creating a wildlife drawing. Artists will be instructed on the principles of design and drawing; ranging from recognize edges, lines, and angles; to reckon proportion and perspective; deciphering shadow, highlights, and gradations of tone. Instruction will focus on problem solving through creativity, critical thinking, and group critiques. Students will also learn how to create a successful drawing working from photos. Demonstrations, critiques and individual attention is provided.
About the Instructor: Vickie McMillan-Hayes is considered a world-renowned wildlife conservation artist in her field of painting. Her exhibitions include art museums/galleries throughout the country and abroad. She has won numerous national awards, published in well-known books, magazines, articles, and reviews both locally/internationally. Vickie has conducted workshops of all ages since 1988, has served as an art judge in many competitions, a Houston Live Stock Rodeo Art Judge for 8 years, received the Interfaith of The Woodlands “Five Who Share” outstanding community award in Fine Arts and painted live at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion with The Houston Symphony. Her large scale collaborative community works of art can be seen all over Montgomery County, Texas and abroad. To name a few in the local area: The Texas Children’s Hospital, Walmart, Montgomery County Judges chambers and many local schools. Vickie also specializes in portfolio preparation for advanced art students, marketing, preparing for competitions, gallery exhibitions and how to make a living as an artist.
